Billie Jean Smith (Burger), 91, of Brady, Texas passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 in Eastland, Texas. Billie was born on June 21, 1927 to Elo Burger Sr. and Lillie (Crawford) Burger in Brady, Texas. Graveside Services for Billie Jean Smith were held on April 8, 2019 at Melvin Cemetery in Melvin, Texas.

Billie Jean Smith married the love of her life, Joe Kirk Smith, on June 10, 1944 in San Saba, Texas. They cherished 71 years together and had 3 children, Larry Smith, Gene Smith, and Mike Smith. Billie enjoyed cooking and being a housewife. She loved going to any and all sports events from football to basketball and even baseball. Billie spent a lot of time helping her husband, Joe Kirk, with ranching.

Those left to cherish Billie's life are her three sons: Larry Smith, and wife Claudia of Mexia, Texas; Gene Smith and wife, Cheryl of Gorman, Texas; and Mike Smith and wife, Martha of Mason, Texas; three grandchildren: Matthew Smith; Hadley Smith; and Marla Hanks; and four great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Smith, Kevin Hanks, Nolan Hanks, and Silver Smith.

Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kirk Smith; parents, Elo Burger Sr. and Lillie (Crawford) Burger; three brothers: Ray Burger, Dewey Burger, and Elo Burger Jr.; and one sister, Faye Burger.
