Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, with Rev. Ray Ash officiating. Burial to follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Margaret was born in Fredonia, Texas to Henry and Maribel Leach on April 14, 1927. She married Calvin Mitchel on July 2, 1949 in Brady, Texas. Living in the Brady area for most of her life, Margaret attended school in Fredonia and graduated from Pontotoc. Following graduation, she moved to Brady and began attending Nursing School at the Brady Hospital. Margaret spent her career assisting in the lab and as a physician’s nurse for several of the doctors associated with Brady Doctors Clinic throughout the years until her retirement. She was a lifelong and active member of the First Baptist Church of Brady before moving to Eldorado in 2012. She taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed her church family.

Margaret’s greatest joy came from her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a loyal and trusted friend. She was an avid card and domino player. Margaret spent many years following her son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in sports and relished in their many accomplishments.

She is survived by one son, Larry Mitchel and wife Randy of Eldorado; one daughter, Linda Ewing and husband David of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Ty Mitchel and wife, Lynnette, and Todd Mitchel, all of Oxford, Kansas, Victoria Garza and husband Lalo of Wall, and Dr. Lance Mitchel and wife Dr. Cindy Zimmerman Mitchel of Fort Worth; three great grandchildren, Payton Box, Gunner and Rance Garza, all of Wall; one brother Don Leach and wife Sue of Austin; one brother-in-law Buford Mitchel and wife Betty of Rockdale; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers: Ty Mitchel, Todd Mitchel, Lance Mitchel, Lalo Garza, Kenny Garner, and Don Richters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Mitchel; two brothers, Herbert and Samuel Leach; one sister, Barbara Alsup.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations may be made in Margaret Mitchel's name to West Texas Rehab Center, San Angelo, Texas.
