Ms. Cherry Simpson Grant of San Saba, 85, passed away on January 12, 2018, with her children by her side in Austin, Texas.
Cherry was born on April 25, 1932 in Brady, Texas. Her parents were Sam Houston Simpson and Carrie Vonn Simpson of Llano, Texas. She was raised in Llano, was a life-long member of the Lousy Leven, and lived throughout the state of Texas while raising her four children and working as an administrative professional. She retired from her career in Houston in the early 90s, and moved to San Saba where she lived for the past twenty-five years. While living in San Saba, she enjoyed working as a part time Office Assistant with Farmers Insurance until her late 70s.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cathy and Tom McDowell of Bend, Jerry Ann and Larry Gilbert of Caldwell, Sam and Sherry Miller of San Saba; grandchildren and their spouses, Zol and Lindsey Owens, Jeff and Suzanne Partin, Cole and Sarah McDowell, Zane Miller and Wayne Churchill, Zada Owens, Carrie and Josh Roper, Will and Kelly Partin, Ellis and Kjisten Miller, Jacqueline and Austin Crow, Tera and David Strunk, Jessica and Steven Sloan; twenty-four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Jerry Graves, and her daughter, Sherry Vonn Smith.
Cherry’s grandsons will be pallbearers during the service, and the following dear friends as honorary pallbearers: Lee Ussery, Kenneth Stewart, Clay Nettleship, David Potts, Paul Paxton, John David Moran, Bobby Tramell, and Don Rains.
