Jay David Parr was born on March 13, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Jay David Parr Sr. and Edith Nordin Parr. Jay’s father passed away early in his life and Jay was raised by his step-father, Leon William Emshoff. Jay passed away on January 2, 2018, in Lakeway, Texas at the age of 75. Services will be held at Cherokee Church of Christ on January 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM with interment at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
Jay attended Brazosport High Scholl where he met his wife of 56 years, Vicky Perry. They were married on May 5, 1961 and had two daughters, Jalyn and Stacey.
As a young boy, Jay enjoyed hunting, basketball, and baseball. He loved the outdoors throughout his life.
He worked for Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas, for over 30 years in processing computer engineering before retiring and moving to enjoy the beauty of the Texas hill country. He lived in both Kingsland and then Cherokee, Texas.
He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and hearing about their academic awards and achievements..
His greatest service for his family is his faithful claim to the Lord and Savior as a Christian. Jay actively served and worshipped at churches in Lake Jackson, Kingsland, and Cherokee.
Jay is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughters, Jalyn Smith and husband, Alan and Stacey Russell and husband, David; grandchildren: Erin Madison and husband, Josh, Dean Smith; Trace Russell, Nathan Russell, Payton Russell, and Shane Russell; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great– great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Genette Willbanks and husband Ian Grain and 5 nieces and nephews.
