Obituary for JW Warren
J W Warren, 94, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2017 at his home in San Saba.
J W was born to John Willie and Fannie (McCants) Warren on April 11, 1923. After High School he entered the Army/Air Corp and served in the Pacific as a Glider Mechanic. He married Jewel Ewell on November 18, 1949 in Conroe, Texas. After the war, J W worked at several jobs until he got a job at Superior Oil Company, working there for 34 years and rising to a position of Chief Clerk. He loved to fish, hunt, go camping with his family and loved to watch the Astros and Rangers baseball. He was a very accomplished carpenter and handyman, learning from his father. J W was a strong, kind and gentle soul and he was very devoted to his wife of 68 years, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Christ for 67 years. He was a faithful Christian who always put the Lord first in his life.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Jewel; 1 son: John Warren and wife, Sherry, of Grand Prairie; 1 daughter: Elizabeth (Liz) Haug and husband, Leif, of San Saba; 6 grandchildren: Shellie Vorland and husband, Ryan, Kristen Millican and husband, Winston, Eric Ward and wife, Sara, Kelly McKinnerney and husband, Regan, Leslie Haug and Luke Haug and wife, Sarah; 4 great-grandchildren: Anna, Abby, Allison Millican and Ian McKinnerney and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Warren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Association or Cherokee Home for Children.
